Milton Keynes Bucks Baseball Club

MK Bucks @ Herts Falcons - 27th March

MK Bucks 6 — 9 Herts Falcons

Despite it just being a preseason warm up in the Herts Spring League, the Bucks have shown that they will be a team to contend with in the Midlands AA Division. Throughout the game both teams were evenly matched which pleased Manager Ernie Ayala as with many key players missing the new additions to the squad stepped up to the plate and made the necessary impact to ensure the Bucks will continue to keep Milton Keynes on the British Baseball Map.

Although the Bucks lost 6-9, the Herts Falcons were there for the taking, however a few costly errors and key moments in the match gave the Falcons the win.  A big welcome to Tom Lloyd, Tom McVay, Tadashi Kawata and Chris White who played solid baseball and will be great additions to the squad. this season.

Leicester Blue Sox @ MK Bucks  - 18th April

Leicester Blue Sox 4  -  9 MK Bucks

In the first game of the season in the BBF AA Midlands League, the Bucks triumphed with a 9-4 win over bitter rivals, the Leicester Blue Sox. Only needing 8 of the 9 innings to send Leicester back up the M1 disappointed.

Solid pitching from newcomer Tom Lloyd & confident batting in the 1st & 2nd innings, saw the Bucks take an early lead, from which the Blue Sox had no reply. After a dry spell in the middle innings, a couple more runs added in the 8th made sure the game was ours.

With 6 of our 9 runs coming from catcher Tam Tachikawa & starting pitcher Tom Lloyd, manager Ernie Ayala, who unfortunately pulled up in the 1st inning with a calf injury, thankfully scoring before falling, is confident the Bucks have what it takes to be contenders in the AA division this season.

MK Bucks @ Birmingham Maple Leafs  - 25th April

MK Bucks 5  -  12 Birmingham Maple Leafs

This weekend the Milton Keynes Bucks travelled to Birmingham to face the Birmingham Maple Leafs.  The Bucks started strong however the inability to put a string of hits together made it hard going for Bucks to put runs on the scoreboard.

The Maple Leafs took advantage of some MK errors and managed to put 4 runs up in the early innings. The match continued through the middle innings at 4-2 to the Leafs.

Tom McVay once again put in a stellar performance on the pitchers mound however as the errors mounted up for the Bucks so did the Birmingham runs.  In the later innings with Tom Lloyd coming in to pitch and the holding Leafs the MK Bucks managed to put 3 more runs on the board however the game was too far gone for the Bucks to mount a rally.

The game ended with the score 12 – 5 to the Maple Leafs. The Bucks returned to MK reeling from their loss however confident of turning it around the next the two teams meet.

Mildenhall Bulldogs II @ MK Bucks - 9th May

Mildenhall Bulldogs II 7  -  5 MK Bucks

Text Box: Amercian Military Base Personnel  from Mildenhall were the latest visitors to Woughton on the Green to face the Bucks. The Bucks were very aware that the Mildenhall Bulldogs would be their toughest opponents in the league and knew that only an outstanding performance would be enough to compete at this level.
The match started with the Bulldogs second baseman hitting a homerun over the left field fence giving them a 2 run lead. At the end of the first inning the Bucks had put up 3 runs of their own giving them a 2-3 lead. The Bucks added another run in the second inning and the match continued into the 5th inning with the Bucks leading 2-4.
The Americans capitalised on a Bucks error and managed to score a further run making it 3-4 still the Bucks leading. In the 7th inning the visitors scored 2 more runs after putting together a few hits coupled with an error and 2 walks giving the Bulldogs the lead 5-4.
The Bucks worked hard to manufacture a run to tie the game 5-5 in the 8th inning. In what was meant to be the final inning of match both teams were unable to score a run sending the match into extra innings to decide the winner.
The Bulldogs scored 2 runs in the 10th inning after a costly error which sent the Bucks to bat needing at least 2 runs to stay alive. Unfortunately, the Bucks were unable to finish strong and the match ended 7-5 to the Bulldogs.
